This paper introduces the concept of the mobile value core that is based on Expectation Confirmation Theory. The mobile value core determines the value relationships between mobile technology provision and mobile technology usage with special regard to value expectations, value perceptions and actual value creation. Creation of mobile value requires mobile co-creation methods and tools to achieve better expectation-experience fit of usage and therefore higher value for both sides, users and providers of mobile devices and applications. The set-up of a mobile Living Lab and a corresponding research agenda is outlined according to the hypotheses drawn from the mobile value core concept

Contextual Enablers and Constraints of User Acceptance of Interactive Technologies in Art Museums – A Field Study

    Get PDF
Art museums are currently discovering the power of mobile apps. This leads to a growing variety of available apps for museums and galleries. The artistic environment of these institutions necessitates an in-depth analysis of contextual factors that affect acceptance of such apps. In this paper, an iterative approach to develop well-accepted apps for interaction of visitors and artworks is presented. The first iteration includes a field study in a museum of modern arts. In the course of this study, a multiple method approach was applied to detect contextual enablers and constraints for acceptance of interactive tags that were implemented at the museum. The results of the field study indicate a need for further iterations in the development process that is conducted on the basis of early insitu and incontext user involvement

Automated motive-based user review analysis in the context of mobile app acceptance: Opportunities and applications

The increasing amount and importance of user-generated content that is available in the web necessitates methods of its effective and efficient utilization. In this paper a system is presented that enables automated classification of user reviews concerning the usage motives mentioned in the reviews. Four possible applications of the system are discussed in detail in the course of this paper: a learning environment for mobile app development, a download prognosis mechanism, an app prizing decision support system, and a recommendation system. These applications are evaluated concerning state-of-the-art methods that currently address the challenge as well as advantages of the implementation of a motive-based system in the particular business processes

Performance Journey Mapping: A Tool-supported Framework for Service Performance Assessment in SMEs

    Get PDF
This paper introduces performance journey mapping as a service performance assessment framework for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as its corresponding tools – the performance journey map (PJM) and the performance index. The PJM is a visual tool whereas the performance index represents a key performance indicator (KPI) pool. The framework is developed by connecting the specific characteristics of SMEs to contributions from goal-setting theory and involves adapted components from service management research, e.g. the service strategy scorecard, ITIL, etc. Service design methods are adapted and applied for the visual components. The paper provides an outlook on the evaluation design for the framework based on method triangulation in a case study setting

Modern tablet computers come with touch sensitive displays, which make them suitable for recognition and evaluation of finger movements. This paper describes the design and development of a prototypical iPad application, which uses this capability to support therapeutic exercises for stroke patients. It is shown how this concept differs from existing stationary solutions, and how the prototype is used to explore the suitability of such a solution for stroke rehabilitation. Experiences from first user trials are described, which indicate willingness of patients and therapists to embrace the new technical possibilities, although challenging research tasks remain to be solved on the way to a proven professional solution

Performance Journey Mapping: Insights from a Methodological Triangulation

    Get PDF
This paper presents the results of an evaluation of the Performance Journey Mapping (PJM) framework. PJM is a service performance assessment concept with accompanying tools tailored to the specific performance measurement needs of small and medium-sized service providers. The initial evaluation of PJM was performed from three different perspectives. The underlying evaluation framework applied methodological triangulation in order to (i) ensure valid and reliable results and to (ii) evaluate both the framework’s results and its process. Quantitative results were supplemented with insights gained through participant observation
